What people say about In His Grip and Deeper in His Grip
For a former State Trooper, and not a professional writer this book is amazing. For anyone in law enforcement, EMS, fire protection or trying to get through daily life, you should read this book. The stories are short, concise and to the point. But it is how he ties it together with bible verse that makes it so valuable. Every day you are left with something to ponder. This was a monumental undertaking, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

I am thoroughly enjoying this devotional book. I originally got two, one for a friend and one for home. I began using it myself. As a retired firefighter, I can totally relate to on the job incidents and the correlation of needing God to carry us through. So far, the examples are point on with scripture to back them up. Everyone has emergency service in their lives whether they’re in Emergency Services professionally or not. This devotional book can be of service to you. Thanks Bob for sharing your professional life with us.

This is first and foremost a wonderful daily devotional that gives a daily insight to Scripture. Bob takes God's teachings and relates them to his past experiences in law enforcement. Everyone can learn and grow from each daily reflection. Law enforcement officers will find encouragement. Those who wait each day for their loved LEO to return home will find support. "Civilians" will find understanding. Buy two, and share the blessing

This book is an inspirational jewel for all first responders and their loved ones. Although it is written as a devotional, with one reading for each day of the year, I found I often could not limit myself to just one passage. This book sits on my night table, and I look forward to the treat of reading from it each night before bed. Bob Gerken's selection of simple-yet-complex lessons from his own career as a state trooper will help every first responder to understand themselves and others, and serve God in their working shift. It will also help the first responder's loved ones to appreciate what their first responder does, why he or she does it, and the toll it sometimes takes. The author has given us a wonderful gift in this book.

This author has hit a home run with this book. He brilliantly relates the many, many attributes/adjectives of everyday life, of work experience qualities to scripture. It is such a refreshing approach succinctly done and very uplifting. Personally, I found it a valuable resource to much in spirit that I had lost sight of in my busy everyday life. We all can use such reminders now and then that our lives are guided by a higher authority. I too believe this book would be a treasure for law enforcement officers, EMTs, Nurses, military and other such service personnel.

Amazing devotional, this book has opened outreach doors for neighbors and friends. For anyone who desires to have an icebreaker to first responders, In His Grip is a wonderful tool for one to use to open conversation and develop friendships with those you may only casually know. I keep several on hand and have handed out many more to others and let God do the rest. Good job, Bob. Well done.

In His Grip is a wonderful Daily devotional. With the Author being a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper, he also gives a wonderful insight at to what a law enforcement officer goes through on a daily basis. I strongly recommend this devotional to any 1st responder.

Putting it all on the line every day when you go to work provides a very real perspective on life. To face the challenges and dangers policemen and first responders not only draw on every ounce of their own training but also put their lives in God’s hands. Bob relates genuine insight from his own personal experiences on the job with the overall guidance that can be derived from the scriptures in a way that is real and practical. The book is beneficial for everyone and I’ve given it to many friends.

After a long and rewarding career in law enforcement, Bob Gerken started on a journey to collect inspirational and spiritual daily devotions. It was personal and he thought it would be helpful to members of the law enforcement community. As he shared it with a few friends, the response was powerful. The daily devotions were thought provoking and inspirational. As the book was shared more widely, it became evident that it was not just relevant to police officers. First responders, military veterans and anyone who has been in tense, life threatening or life saving situations, or anyone in a personal struggle, will have a heartfelt and profound reaction. Even people who don’t view themselves as religious or spiritual will read this book will sense a renewal of their minds and hearts.-
