DIVINE INTERVENTION

Ron had been a trooper for over ten years. He really liked patrol, a so-called, "Road Dog," That night was bitter cold, about two feet of snow was making the roads treacherous. The sky had been overcast throughout the day, and now that the sun had set the continuing snow made visibility poor. As Ron turned off the main highway he glanced to his left and saw a vehicle part way up a hill. Assuming that it was probably stuck in the now, he needed to contact dispatch to send a tow truck after travel conditions improved. Ready to continue, the trooper reconsidered and decided to check out the vehicle. It appeared that the car had been at the location for a considerable amount of time, as all the windows were frozen over. He tried to scrap away the ice but still could not see inside of the car. Again, feeling the need to go further, he smashed the drivers window and saw two men inside. Their breathing was very shallow and Ron did not think either would survive. He contacted dispatch for an ambulance and waited, knowing that the response would not be quick to this desolate area. When the paramedics arrived, they quickly loaded the men into the ambulance. The look on the face of one responder told the trooper that this effort was in vain. Toward the end of his shift, Ron decided to stop at the hospital. As he entered, a doctor dressed in blue scrubs walked up to him, and Ron assumed that he was about to tell him that the victims had died. Instead, the Doc then said, "Twenty minutes more out there and they wouldn't have made it. They are going to survive."
Ron has a strong faith ,and he often sensed that God provided "Divine Intervention," to him during many such incidents. We read in God's word that when Jesus met with his disciples just prior to His crucifixion and ascension into Heaven, He said He was sending the Holy Spirit to be with His disciples, and then ultimately to all those who believe Jesus to be Lord and Savior. This "Helper" was sent specifically to help us with every area of our lives. His "nudging" is often not even realized, but at other times, we know exactly where that prodding came from.
"Earthly wisdom is doing what comes naturally. Godly wisdom is doing what the Holy Spirit compels us to do." Charles Stanley, pastor/author
