SECOND CHANCE

Over the years, those in law enforcement received only the very basic equipment, usually a revolver with holster and a pair of handcuffs, often without a case. Today with so much to carry, they need a utility belt. In addition to a semi automatic pistol with holster, two pairs of handcuffs, they most likely will have a tazer, flashlight, expandable baton, portable radio, chemical mace, and tourniquet in a pouch. One of the most critical pieces, however, is a kevlar vest. The bullet-resistant vest helps absorb impact and reduce penetration. Bomb disposal officers wear heavy armor and helmets as well. Some departments either have or have access to, dogs that are trained to identify explosives. They may even have robots that are used to detonate suspicious objects or packages. All of this equipment may give an officer a second chance.
When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and ask Him to forgive our sins, past, present, and future, we get far more than a second chance, but freedom from our sinfulness as well. Thankfully, our Creator does not have a three strike rule. If He did, none of us would ever receive eternal life. "...all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his Grace." Romans 3:23. If we don't make that commitment early on while still on earth, it will be too late when we appear before our Savior. We then, must also be willing now, to forgive others as He forgives us. 1 John 2:1 tells us, "My little children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, (He already knows we will) we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense- Jesus Christ the righteous one."
"Forgiveness is the key which unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hatred. It breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness."
